The elders of the Estate of Zaragoza Romareda have discovered that technology can make life more comfortable and safer. The medical center participates in a European pilot project on a platform with the collaboration of sensory research group of I3A Tecnodiscap CATIE-University of Zaragoza. According to Jorge Falco, head of Tecnodiscap, this system is designed to “prolong independent living for seniors.” To this end, researchers have sensors installed in some rooms that allow up and down the blinds with a ‘click’, on or off the light and open and close doors and windows. The devices also can regulate the temperature or detect a foreign presence and are accompanied by a display that alerts medical appointments and taking medications.
